The legal predecessor, Magyar Vagon- és Gépgyár Rt. (Hungarian Railway Carriage and Machine Works) was founded in 1896 as a transport vehicle manufacturer. Today, it operates as a holding company; its activities are grouped into axles, automotive parts and vehicle businesses. The company s driving sector is the axle business, representing nearly two thirds of its revenues, which manufactures axles and axle components for heavy trucks and buses, as well as for power machinery and more specialised vehicles. As a result of a strategy introduced in 2000 (restructuring of the holding, extensive efficiency enhancing measures, territorial reconstruction, comprehensive real estate program for a strategy-based utilisation) the company s activity in Győr is now centred on a single site.
