Business activity

Its predecessor company belonged to Magyar Villamos Művek (Hungarian Electric Works - MVM) until 1991, when it was transformed into a company limited by shares named ÉMÁSZ Rt. After its privatisation, RWE Plus AG and Energie Baden Württemberg AG acquired ownership stakes in the company. The company supplies electrical energy to the northeastern region of Hungary. In almost all areas, ÉMÁSZ operates in close cooperation with ELMÜ, a partner undertaking under the same ownership, including RWE. The two companies have jointly established Magyar Áramszolgáltató Kft. (Hungarian Power Supply Company). This company aims to gain customers in the liberalised electrical power market, as well as to maintain and increase the market share of the ELMÜ/ÉMÁSZ Group.
