The body was established by BSE's Board of Directors to involve a broad range of stakeholders in developing and implementing the new strategy of BSE, which had shortly before been acquired by the Central Bank of Hungary. Committee member assist the work of BSE's Board of Directors and management by discussing matters of strategic importance. Thanks to the strategy and the renewal of BSE's operations, a healthier financial system may be established in Hungary, which could more efficiently support economic growth.

To this end, the 17 members of the body comprise current and previous leaders of financial and capital markets, chambers and public authorities. Its president is Mihály Patai, former stock exchange president, president-CEO of UniCredit Bank.
